Math Rich Task

For math we were learning how to handle data. The learning intention was to borrow from using subtracting. I mostly did the work because I found the work interesting. The best thing I like about myself is that if I find the the work interesting I will let the pen write and let my head think. Mostly I should think about work everyday thinking about math and the tasks that our teacher instructs.

Sanujan - I think that I would be best at test 1 because my eyes send messages
to my brain fast.

Evaluation:

Sanujan : My hypothesis was incorrect because according to the graph I was great at
tactile which is test 1 I was surprised that my connection from my eyes to my brain is not
as fast as through touch.

John -  My hypothesis was wrong because I expected that I had really great ears but I actually don’t. The graph had surprised me when I was excellent on test 3 because my ears sent messages to my brain faster than my eyes open.  What I found surprising was that my partner had faster reflexes than me.

This week for inquiry, we learnt about human reactions. We had a small challenge
that included simply a ruler, a partner, and our reactions. Our task was to attempt
to grab a ruler as fast as possible. We were given 3 different reactions to test.
Visual, where we had to grab the ruler just by watching it. No count down, go or
anything. Nextwas aural, where we had to close our eyes, and where only told "GO"
for when we could attempt to grab the ruler. No countdown, no looking, no
touching, just a simple go. Finally, was touch. We closed our eyes, no words,
just a tap on the shoulder letting us know when to grab. The partner that I was
given was Tiava, and we had a lot of fun working together. What we needed to do
next was graph our data. Although to make it even better, we were to group up
with another pair and graph all of our data in one big graph. So for this, we chose
to work with Jack and Tiava. We had a lot of fun all working together, and in the end, made a pretty great graph.

Life 1870

This week we were learning about the jobs in 1870. We compared Male and Female. What we found out was that not all women can work with Male. The interesting thing I thought was nasty was the women having there own male boss. All the information was kind of hard because we didn't know where to get the information from, but we still got the answers from the computers.

Anne Charlotte

Today we were learning about Charlotte Anne. We created this slide because how Charlotte Anne didn't want to be like one of those ladies that stayed home and did housework while the men went out to work. Charlotte Anne could of showed that women are more capable of doing things better than men. I thought that men were actually much more clever than women but I was wrong, women are better than men. Charlotte Anne was passionate about having a better future and doing what she wants to do instead of someone telling what to do. Charlotte Anne is a leader because she would never get stood down by anyone and she has inspired me.

Samoan language learning

This week is Samoan language week. We created a google slide about how to understand the days of the week in Samoan. We found this language kind of hard but we still tried to get the understanding of pronouncing it properly. The google slides that my partner and I created was to tell you what the days of the week mean. Samoan language week is important to celebrate because all the other languages that we celebrate must be all celebrated. All the languages mean something like if they are from the same country they celebrate it in a different way from anyone else.

We created this google presentation to shThen how is the ava drink is made. ow you about the culture of samoa and to talk about the Ava ceremony. The saying of samoan language week is called Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa. We talked about the what is an Ava ceremony and the ceremony begins with a welcome by crossing their legs in a circle or a semicircle.

Tech reflection

Today for tech we were finishing our personal treasure box. Our art we had to draw was to make sure that it is traditional to the Waka huia. There were differences between contemporary and traditional.  I found my art very interesting because usually I never draw like that. Ms Telefoni gave us instructions about what we do when we are finished. The most fun thing I found cool in tech was the arts we can draw and the work we can finish.

Kiwi Can reflection

Today for tech we were learning what is a role model.? The energizer was called doggy doggy. The energizer was a bit violent but it was still an awesome game. The main thing to win is make sure no one takes your stuff. We played it for a long time. A while later we went straight into our activity but there was no time to play it so we played a game of general knowledge. We had competitors playing against other wanting to win the game. Mr Matt and Ms Lily were giving the same questions to each other because none of them knew about the famous game around the world called "Fortnight." Unfortunately we didn't get to finish the general knowledge.

Math class transportation

For the fourth week of term 2 we were learning how to calculate how many people go in transportation. I found out that not so many of our math class don't walk and bus or bike. The important thing about trying to find out how many people use a transport is to make sure you get the same amount as the other pupil. I found the transportation math easy because it was just about finding how many people in my math group.

Fake I phone texting

Today for writing we learning how to write a fake I phone text. What I learnt from the fake I phone text was amazing because the text gets sent and they don't juggle and get mixed around. The learning intention was to place the correct speech bubbles in the right spot and placing the full stop and capital letters in the first sentence.

Tech Reflection

Today for tech we were learning about Waka Huia. What I learnt was that they carved there Waka Huia with feathers. We were given a sheet of paper and a sketching pencil to sketch on the sheet of paper. In English Waka Huia means a personal treasure box. It means that the Maori people created this treasure box for a reason. They made this treasure box because it good to put in your personal belongings from someone else trying to be a nosy and looking through your things. The personal treasure box is traditional because the patterns represent there country. I actually like going to tech because there are fun things to do like creating your own patterns or story, and drawing interesting pictures to tell the story by imagination. The fun thing about tech is that we have a great tech teacher and teaches us new things every time we attend to tech. For the last second week of tech with Ms Telefoni we will be moving around to a different tech teacher for the term.

Kiwi Sport reflection

Today for Kiwi Sport our coach for this term was Haymish. He was coaching us for this week. At Kiwi Sport we learnt how to pass and how quick we can communicate to pass the ball. The main part to win is to get the ball to the line before the other team touches you. First the game started with rugby netball. It is similar to netball but you can't move when you catch the ball you can only pass it to the person that is close to you. The next game was to run with the ball and if you want to run you can but at the same time the ball had to be shared. The team with the most points won but unfortunately our team had lost three times. The whole game was ripparugby. The favorite thing about ripparugby was the game was hard because when someone threw the ball the other opponents got a hold of it. Ripparugby is a cool sport to play.

Kiwi Can reflection

Today in Kiwi Can group A learnt new games through out the lesson. The theme for this term is integrity. Integrity means doing the right thing when no one is looking. Our topic for this term is making good choices. To become a person that makes good choices you are to respect everyone in the community and everyone that talks. We learnt that when someone is down you can always help them back up to their feet even though they are someone you don't know about. Our energizer was amazing because most of us had to learn the opposites of left and right. Mr Matt and Ms Lily were tricky because one of them would trick us by putting both hands up and saying down, four people were left and four of them lost. I actually like attending at Kiwi Can. The favorite thing about Kiwi Can was the activities and the energizers we play.

Word Clines

Today we created a DLO about words clines. All the words had to mean the same thing and to relate to the same topic. I think that clines are words that we can use to make more powerful sentences.

Poem - Summer and Winter

In summer I get dressed for school and make sure my arms see the sunlight.
The street awake and chattering.
Trees motionless and attractive.
Birds are flying and whistling.
Clouds high in the sky and far, far away from humanity.
Carefree people laugh and smile.
The bell goes but no one hurries to class.

In winter I get dressed for school and make sure my arms are hidden from the darkness.
The street asleep and silent.
Trees moving and unsightly.
Birds are hiding in their nests.
Heavy clouds are low in the sky, nearly touching the earth.
Downcast people moan and whine

The bell goes and everyone hurries to class.

Today we made a poem about Summer and Winter, we did differences between both of the topics that we chose to describe. We chose powerful words because it makes the poem more powerful and to improve our vocabulary. It helps with our vocabulary in our writing.

To help us use powerful describing words we looked at synonyms. We then used the synonyms to create a word cline. This helped us to see some words are stronger than other words. We tried to use strong words to hook in our audience by painting a picture in their mind,

Life at PBS - Silver CARE AWARDS (respect)

Today I have created a collage of photos of me at Panmure Bridge School. I started at Panmure Bridge School in 2017. What I enjoy at this school is making new friends and having to learn new things. My favorite subjects are reading and maths. I find math the best subject in school because you have to solve hard problems and it challenges my thinking. This is life at PBS!

Body System

Today I created a drawing of me in the language of Samoan. We were learning about body systems so I created one of me. As you can see you might not be able to say these words. Everything I listed is in Samoan. I really like my culture because I was part of Samoan. People live in parts of the world so some of them probably did one of them in a different language.

Kiwi Sport Reflection

This term for kiwi sport we are learning how to play Rippa Rugby. This week the coach was absent and wasn't able to make it to train us how to play Rippa Rugby. Mrs Morris was there to teach us how to play Rugby. Rippa Rugby was great because Mrs Morris took her time to take us out and to play Rippa Rugby even though the coach wasn't able to come to our school.

Evaluation

For this week of term two we discussed what we already knew about the story. We wrote all things included in the story and added it to this presentation we created. It was kind of difficult to answer the questions because most of the group were talking at the same time instead of one person just speaking.

Vocabulary

Today for reading we were creating differences between the new words we couldn't understand so instead we did the synonyms and the antonyms. We created this DLO so that you could understand what a synonyms and antonyms mean.

The English Language

The English Language

L.I. Language features - End rhyme
Parts of speech - Homonyms

Some people say that you’re a dear,
yet dear is far from cheap.
A jumper is a thing you wear.
yet a jumper has to leap.
It’s very clear it’s very queer,
and pray who’s to blame
for different meanings to some words
pronounced and spelt the same?
A little journey is a trip,
a trip is when you fall.
It doesn’t mean you have to dance
whene’er you hold a ball.
Now here’s a thing that puzzles me:
musicians of good taste
will very often form a band -
I’ve got one round my waist!

Harry Helmsley

Words that look the same but have different meanings are called?

Write out three pairs from the poem.
  • Ball
  • Trip
  • Band

The words at the end of some lines rhyme, this is called?
“A end rhyme”
Write out three pairs from the poem.
  • Dear/wear
  • taste/waist
  • Ball/fall

Write another 2 lines that could be included in this poem.
Illustrate your verse.
I hit the ball with a Bat.
I saw a Bat in the cave.

Create a DLO that explains what homonyms are with examples that will help others strengthen their connection to this learning.

Today we were learning what homonyms and end rhymes were. There was a poem that we had to finish. I worked collaboratively with my friend Miki.

Kiwi Can Reflection

This week for Kiwi can we were learning to work as a team. Our topic for this this term our topic is integrity. We played the energizer and it was called captain ball. The main thing about it is to get the ball to the captain as fast as possible and try to get it away fro the opponents. At the end we had a quiz. The winners were great at getting the answers as fast before the other players tried getting the answers.

Homonyms

Today we are learning about homonyms. The homonyms are two words that sound the same but mean different meanings. My partner and I decided which words we should add in during we research what the homonym really means.

Mnumonic - Mrs Gren

This term of week three we are learning about Mrs Gren. She had watched a t.v show about what living things can do. Mrs Gren believed the t.v show and discovered things that weren't actually a living thing. Mrs Gren finally realized that not all living things can move.

Poem

The third week of the second term we are learning to write a poem with synonyms. The story had to have a simile and words that rhymed. There were interesting sentences that made the story more great.

Math Solving

For this week my partner and I created slide about the number working. We discussed how many numbers can add up to the numbers 1763, We used our brain to figure out the math equation. As we came up with the numbers we also used a calculator to calculate if we got the correct answer.

Hineheauone

Today I have created a template about hineheauone and the myths and legends about her. It was interesting to be researching about the gods because the information that I gathered made me want to learn more about Hineheauone.

Tech Reflection

Today for tech the year 8B presented there presentation about symbols. The symbols contain the meaning of what you chose and why. Most of the presentation had a slide of them representing there country. When we had free time we watched a movie called lights out, it was scary.

Body Measuring, Math

Today for math my partner and I created a drawing about body measuring. As we were measuring there was only one question that was false. Every group had there own answers because they have different sizes and how tall they are.

The Unfinished Drink

Private Ted D' left his drink at the bar called Forks Bar. The poem was sad because he said that he was going to come back and drink it with his friends, but unfortunately he didn't.

Memorial, Unknown Soldiers

                                                                 Link to presentation

For reading I have chosen one of my slide that I created about the unknown soldiers. Our theme for this term is about 'ANZAC' "least we forget." As I was researching I found these two tombs of two soldiers found dead without there remains being identify-ed. These two soldiers died in a different country when they fought in a battlefield.
