Summer Learning Journey

Yesterday Panmure Bridge School had a special assembly to launch the 2017/2018 Summer Learning Journey. The Summer Learning Journey is a fun way to keep up our learning during the holiday break. The video shows Daniel's SLJ and it looks like a great way to learn. We would like to thank the Next Foundation, Rachel, Hazel and the Wolf Fisher Learning Centre, Manaiakalani, members from our Board Of Trustees, who all attended the assembly and helped make this Summer Learning Journey possible. I am so excited about taking part in the Summer Learning Journey during the holidays.

Collabrative challange

In LS2 we have been learning how to work collaboratively with each other. Our task was to research a country and explain how they celebrate Christmas.  The country that we were researching was Germany. We were researching the traditions, food and etc. I learnt that in Germany kids place nice and clean boots in front of their door so St Nicolas (Santa) can visit them and leave a small gift. St Nicolas doesn't really come, its just a family member dressed as Santa. I found that Santa's name is really interesting because it's hard to read.

Fire safety

As part of our inquiry we learnt about fire safety. The tutors showed us why we shouldn't play with lighters or anything that is flammable otherwise a fire will start. They nearly had all the gear for there fire department. They use very important tools to get someone out of a car crash. They gave us very important instructions.

Police dogs and police helicopters

As part of our inquiry we Learnt about what the police dogs and what they do. They could hear 9 x the hearing better than human beings. Everything they taught us is the police are there to help the community to keep them safe from any kinds of danger. Some of the police dogs are trained by professionals and were probably raised by them.

Mussel problem solving

Today our maths group had a mussel problem solving equation. We had to find out how much they both collected. Our strategy was to use repeated multiplication to find out how much they both collected.

Leadership

Today the year seven's are learning about leadership because our school leader is leaving this year and we need to choose a leader for next year. We looked at what motivation means. My partners were Lyric, Savelina and Joshua.  These words are important because it show what a leader is.
